Initial levy results too close for celebration . . .

The first count for the levies is complete and can be found here. I was hoping to see a yes vote of at least 60% so the 53.89% for the operations levy and the 51.64% for the technology levy are disturbing. Yes, if the percentages hold they will pass the 50% requirement.

I am concerned because historically the late votes have resulted in a loss of yes vote percentage as the absentees are counted. This is, however, our first total vote by mail so we have no trend data to make predictions nor do we know how many total ballots were returned. Hopefully, we should know sometime this week as the late votes begin to be counted.

Combining your two previous posts (the President trying to treat a childish Congress* like they were adults with the slim yes-vote margin of the levies) I came away a glass-half-full conclusion; I am SO GLAD school levies can't be filibustered! Viv la Democracie! Minority rule is so anti-American... it's a wonder anything gets done in D.C.

*Can you believe the audacity (not to mention the gargantuan hypocrisy) of Senator Shelby (R-ALA)!? Blocking EIGHTY of the President's appointments unless Boeing's $35 Billion tanker contract is revoked and handed over to French-based Airbus!? Not only is he D.C.'s "King of Pork" but now this? Some days it's really difficult to remain optomistic.
